Jagyeongjeon Hall

Located to the east of the royal bedroom, Jagyeongjeon Hall was added to the palatial complex during the restoration of Gyeongbokgung Palace, when Heungseon Daewongun built a new hall for Queen Shinjeong, the stepmother to Gojong. The building was lost to fire almost immediately after its construction, and today's building was rebuilt in 1888 (25th year of Gojong’s reign). The south of Jagyeongjeon Hall is home to a corridor, which housed the Mansemun Gate, a light gate for women to easily open and close.
