Jibokjae Hall

Once used as the royal study for Gojong of Joseon, this hall is located to the left of Geoncheonggung Palace of Gyeongbokgung Palace. It was also used to store the royal portraits of the previous kings of Joseon, and a reception hall for foreign envoys as well. Unlike other buildings in the palatial complex, this building was built in the Chinoiserie style, which was in vogue at that time. Its hanging tablet was also based on the calligraphy of the Northern Song period calligrapher Mi Fu.
